20-20 Commercial Software Known Issues List 2009 Version Including Office Sales, CAP Studio, Giza Studio and WorksheetSelect the specific 20-20 Software application for the Known Issues list:
Please be aware of the following issues in the 2009 Releases. Most of these issues affect a small number of 20-20 users because of the specific or unique circumstances under which they occur. However, 20-20 Technologies feels it is important to fully disclose these known scenarios and workarounds. 20-20 design and specification software are provided as tools to assist in designing and specifying products. As always, 20-20 Technologies strongly recommends you fully check your work yourself prior to submitting orders. 20-20 Technologies and the manufacturers it supports cannot be held responsible for incorrect specifications or drawings. Please refer to your Software End User License Agreement and Terms and Conditions for more details.
Data Installation - GeneralNEW: 20-20 has updated the Commercial Software Installation Guide, which now includes instructions for Network Deployment. Download the PDF (1.03MB) version here.
NEW: Beginning in January 2009, there will be a new and enhanced Data Installation delivered monthly. This new installation program corrects many of the issues in the previous versions, as well as making it easier for every user to determine what needs to be installed/updated. This new installation program also provides a visual representation of the progress of the install. This new installation will be faster for all users to install/update faster each month. Please note that the first month (January) may take just as long or a little longer than usual because of all the clean up that is required to remove previous installations and prepare each computer/network for the "new" installation. Subsequent months will see the improved speed.
The 20-20 Commercial Software DVD (blue) will not be included in each monthly update package. 20-20 will provide updates and hot fixes to all customers through the Software Manager within each software application. Physical Software DVDs will be included in teh monthly update package quarterly. If reinstallation of the software is needed, please use the last blue software DVD you receivied and you will be prompted to update via Software Manager online.
The 20-20 Commercial Data DVD set (Orange DVDs) contains multiple discs. Only Disk #1 contains the installation program. Begin installation/updates with Disk #1. If needed, you will be prompted for each additional disc. Depending on what software you have installed and what manufacturers catalogs were chosen during the setup, not all discs may be needed each month.
During the monthly data install/update (orange DVDs) there may be certain manufacturer files that cannot be installed on your system. In these rare cases, you will be prompted with "Retry / Skip / Abort" options. It is suggested to select "Retry" once. If that manfacturer file still does not go through, make a note of it and select "Skip". This will allow the installation to continue as normal. At the end of the installation, review the list of potential "Skipped" manufacturers and if needed visit the 20-20 website (http://www.2020technologies.com/datadownload)to)to download and install the skipped manufacturers. Workaround: Even though this is an individual hardware issue and not a problem with the actual media or installation program, 20-20 is committed to putting in safeguards in place in future DVD updates that will help users avoid this issue.
NOTE: Product Previews within Worksheet are generated from the CAP Designer graphic symbol, and are enabled by default when installing CAP Studio graphics. When installing CAP Studio there is no need to additionally select the "Enable Product Previews" option. The "Enable Product Previews" option is for when installing Giza Studio or Office Sales when Product Previews are desired within Worksheet. When the "Enable Product Previews" box is checked it is not possible to deselect these manufacturer catalogs from the CAP Studio list. If disc space is limited, it may be better to select the corresponding CAP Designer catalogs for what you are installing for Giza and/or Office Sales. By doing this, Product Previews will be enabled only for the selected manufacturers and not the entire offering. In this case it is not necessary to also select the "Enable Product Previews" option.
Installing the 20-20 Commercial Data DVD may generate the following error(s): -------------- Error: -1603: Fatal error during installation. Consult windows installer help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information. -------------- Or: -------------- Error 1603: General Windows Installer engine error. Increase DiskSpace requirement in Setup.ini and try again. -------------- Workaround: The 1603 error is a VERY general computer-specific Microsoft error, typically alerting the user that there is not enough room on the destination drive to install the selected data. Make sure there is enough room to install the data and re-run the install. (i.e. cleanup Temp files and folders and other unnecessary files) There are also a few other causes for this error:
Use Microsoft’s Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove traces of previous installations. This utility does not remove files installed by the installation, which may need to be removed manually. For more information, refer to Microsoft’s Knowledge Base article Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
Software Installation - GeneralWhen updating Software versions from the blue discs, it is important to immediately reinstall any manufacturer updates afterward. This is because the software installation creates a CAPContent.xml file which will include only the Generic and/or 20-20 EXP catalogs. This will overwrite any existing CAPContent.xml that exists on teh system. It is the Content updates (orange DVDs) that will generate the rest of the manufacturers and correctly update the CAPContent.xml. Workaround: This is as designed. To avoid this for future software upgrades from the blue discs, first make a backup of the CAPContent.xml file on the user's system. This file is typically located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CAP\Content\
When notified of a 20-20 Software update via "Software Manager", The informational screen appears blank, cut-off or "locked up" as shown below:

Workaround: There is an update for the Software Update Manager software from Macrovision available here. Save this file to your desktop and then run the "um_update.msi" from there to correct this problem. This same update file is located in the "redist" folder on the blue software DVDs.
Office Sales- GeneralSee the Worksheet section for more information about the links between the design and specification applications.
- Upgrading from a previous version of Office Sales may take a very long time, depending on the number of manufacturer catalogs that were installed. This is because each catalog needs to be synchronized with the new version of software and can take 5 minutes per catalog or longer depending on the speed of the PC.
Workaround: Delete any catalogs you do not need or will be updating before upgrading Office Sales. A cleanup tool is available to assist in this procedure here. Save this file to your Desktop or network location and double-click to begin. NOTE: Do not manually delete the Sample or Example catalogs.
Idea Center may give an error message while trying to load Ideas. Depending on the speed of your computer, the details page may take slightly longer to load due to the number of images required. The error message will occur if the "Open" button is clicked before the images have completely loaded. Workaround: Wait for the detail page to completely load before continuing.
- Many items such as desks may not correctly display solid outlines with dashed interior lines.
Workaround: This issue has been resolved in the 2008 release, however many shapes may still not be configured correctly. Verify that the interior polygons have their locator number correctly set to "31".
- Items placed from the "OFFICE" catalog do not option correctly in Worksheet. Items optioned from OFFICE catalog in Worksheet may cause each option to be listed as a line item. This is will be corrected in a future Office Sales version.
Workaround: Option the OFFICE catalog items directly in Office Sales before sending to Worksheet.
- An error message is generated when saving an Idea for the first time on Windows Vista.
Workaround: This error will only occur the very first time you san an Idea. Simply click "OK" and resave the Idea.
Non-Plan items and accessories do not load when inserting an Idea into the current design. When an Idea is inserted into the current design, only floor plan elements can be added. Workaround: When loading the Idea, select the "Open as New Idea" option. This will allow the Idea to load completely.
- While uninstalling Office Sales and Worksheet a "Finished" dialog may appear for each application.
Workaround: Ignore the first "Finished" dialog until the process is complete.
Receiving message "Database is in use..." while trying to access "Edit/Create a Catalog". When a new design is opened in Office Sales, an instance of Worksheet is also opened in memory. Depending on the speed of your computer, it may take several seconds for Worksheet to close after closing all open designs. Workaround: Wait 5 seconds and click "OK" on the warning message and try again.
CAP Studio - GeneralSee the Worksheet section for more information about the links between the design and specification applications.
Data CANNOT be installed by any other means than physical DVDs - OR - the provided Network Deployment/install. Mapped drives pointing to a DVD will NOT work. Workaround: There is no workaround for this issue. Download the Installation Instructions PDF (1.03MB) here.
A server-side Network Deployment copies all Commercial Software applications (Office Sales, CAP Designer, Giza Designer, Worksheet) to the server target location. This causes the Network Deployment to take a long time. Workaround: This is as designed.
If multiple parallel port security devices/keys are stacked together, the installation setup will only be able to recognize the first device connected directly to the computer to pre-select the applications to install. Workaround: All applications can be installed regardless of a security device; they will need to be manually selected during the installation process.
When installing (both client and local) there will be an ability to install any application, regardless what the security device is programmed (authorized) for. Any application installed but not programmed in the security device will install and run in a "Trial" mode. This will be clearly communicated to the user when the "Trial" application is first launched. Workaround: No workaround necessary. This is a feature of the new installation process.
Files created or modified by CAP Studio 2009 cannot be accessed by CAP Studio 2008 or prior. This includes Custom Catalogs (.CC4), Worksheets (.SP4), and AutoCAD drawings (.DWG) with CAP-specific items such as CAP Standards, Panel Builder Configurations, CAP Tile configs, etc. Workaround: Only use CAP Studio 2009-created files while in CAP Studio 2009 -OR- Where a mixed-version environment of CAP Studio exists, only use CAP Studio 2008.x to create or modify CAP-related files. 20-20 Technologies strongly recommends upgrading all users to the 2009 release at the same time to avoid any potential incompatibilities.
There are known issues with UNC pathing and CAP Studio. Workaround: 20-20 Technologies recommends using mapped drive letters when dealing with folder locations. NOTE: This can happen even when "My Documents" folder is pointed to a network location instead of your local hard drive. Check with your IT administrator to find out if this is your issue.
When running the 20-20 Diagnostic tools, certain files are reported that the installed versions are newer than the versions located on the CAP CD. The files are: MSVCRT.DLL, MSVCIRT.DLL, and ATL70.DLL. Workaround: 20-20 has investigated this issue and found it is not a problem. Click the OK button on each message box to continue.
AutoCAD-specificDrawings with custom AEC objects (Architectural Desktop or AutoCAD Architectural) created in an AutoCAD® 2007-based product and saved in the AutoCAD® 2004 or older drawing format may display multiple error messages when working with them in an AutoCAD 2005-based product. These error messages are caused by the presence of future-version custom AEC objects that are too complex to be saved back to a previous drawing format. Proxy representations of these objects are not properly handled by the earlier Object Enablers. Additional problems when working with these drawings include the inability to bind xrefs in some circumstances. The custom AEC objects in these drawings cannot be edited and will be visible only if ProxyGraphics are enabled when the drawing is saved from the original application. For more information about custom and proxy objects, see the "Work with Custom and Proxy Objects" topic in the AutoCAD Help system. Enter "proxy objects" on the Search tab. Workaround: Thereis a "Hotfix" available from Autodesk that corrects this issue. Click on the following link for more information:http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=7047376&linkID=9240618
Design AutomationIf an XSITE drawing is opened while CAP Designer is not loaded, problems can occur. These problems may be related to saving the drawing, the removal of items from a drawing, or moving items in the drawing. In some cases these problems will be seen immediately, while in other cases they may not appear until a later date. Workaround: Make sure CAP is loaded (type "CAP" at the command line) before opening or working on any drawing containing XSITE components.
Tile placements onto Kimball XSITE elevations initially fail to be recognized properly. Scenario: An XSITE structure run is created; elevations are also created for the run. When you apply tiles to the elevation, the tiles are not recognized as tiles, and do not have the necessary parts automatically generated for them. Workaround: Create a run, create an elevation, and then save the drawing. Close out of the AutoCAD session. (If trying to apply a tile to the elevation in the same session the software will not recognize it.) Open the just-saved drawing, and apply the tile again. It should now be recognized properly. Note: This should only occur once. Once the drawing is “set” XSITE should work properly from this point forward.
Error messages occur when using XSITE in any of the following manners inside of AutoCAD: a) within a CAP Standard; b) as a WBLOCK from another drawing; c) using COPYCLIP from one drawing to another; d) inserting one drawing into another. Workaround: At this time, there is no workaround to prevent the error messages. In some scenarios, the error messages occur even though there truly is not a problem with the drawing. To use elevations created in one drawing in another drawing, use the “SaveAs” function to create the second drawing. If you use XSITE graphics often, have encountered error messages and are concerned about your drawing(s), please contact technical support at (800) 638-6002 and we would be happy to discuss the problem.
When selecting from the dropdown list in the Kimball XSITE Tag Manager, the use of existing tags does not work when those tags have skipped options. Workaround: Go through the normal process of re-optioning the item rather than selecting a Finish Code.
Dependency-related graphics (Canadian and GSA versions of American catalogs and/or manufacturers) do not work with CAP Tile or Auto Connectors. Scenario: You have placed graphics into your drawing from a Dependency-related catalog, and realize that neither CAP Tile nor Auto Connectors work on them. Workaround: Use US graphics, and once a Worksheet take-off has been done, change the catalog of manufacturer codes to the corresponding Canadian or GSA codes.
Under some circumstances, Auto Connectors and/or CAP Tile will experience problems when multiple drawings are open within a single session of AutoCAD. Workaround: Close out of AutoCAD, and open up the single drawing with which you want to work with Auto Connectors and/or CAP Tile.
Giza Studio - GeneralNEW: Several issues with the initial Giza 2009 release such as placing architectural elements, Frame Designs, Worksheet takeoffs, or general issues when opening existing drawings in the 2009 program, have been corrected. Below are some of the issues that are corrected by this Hot Fix. If your issue is not on this list, it still may be corrected by the Hot Fix. Please update your Giza 2009 and if the problem persists do not hesitate to contact our Support department toll-free at (800) 638-6002 or by email: commercial.support@2020.net for further assistance. - All openings, doors, and windows not functioning - 2D Misc Openings dialog window not displaying / refreshing correctly - Place Column tool not functioning - Perspective Camera not working correctly - Errors displayed - Unable to display any product in the Giza Special Symbols program - "Symbol not found" message - Crashes when trying to do a save or save as in older existing drawings (made pre-2009 version) - Frame Designs across all manufacturers do not show in 3D - Unable to place any predefined 2D CAD Symbols - Error cannot read symbol - Cross Hatch not functioning correctly - Symbol problems - Pressing the zoom all button in Birds Eye View Generates error dialog - "Cannot process layer name" Workaround: 20-20 has a Hot Fix available for immediate download. If you are not automatically prompted by the Software Manager that there is an update available, please download the Hot Fix here.
See the Worksheet section for more information about the links between the design and specification applications.
20-20 WorksheetNEW: CAP Contacts have been enhanced in the Worksheet 2009 release to be able to store multiple contacts with the same name. There is a new "ID Number" that will be automatically generated for new contacts that will differentiate them. Existing worksheets (2008.x or prior) did not have this feature and therefore the 2009 version will attempt to upgrade them to have individual identifiers. This may cause messages to be displayed such as "Contact ID cannot be blank". Workaround: Export existing CAPContacts database to .CSV, delete the existing CAPContacts database from CAP Diagnostics, import the .CSV database back into Worksheet. A PDF outlining this procedure can be downloaded here. This is scheduled to be corrected for an August software Hot Fix. NEW: Attempting to open a 2008.x or earlier Worksheet (.SP4) file in the 2009 version of Worksheet generates the following error: -------------- Unable to open the specified file: The file was created by a newer version of 20-20 Worksheet (You need to upgrade to open this file) <OK> -------------- Workaround: This error is generated when there is previous installed version of CAP Studio present on the computer. This could simply be that a "CAP Studio 2.0" folder remains even after the 2009 installation. Manually delete the "C:\Program Files\2020\CAP Studio 2.0" folder. Then verify that the icons and shortcuts for Worksheet are pointing to the correct "CAP Studio" (without the 2.0) folder.
A required file, a Fox Pro Database drive, may not install properly on some systems under certain software and hardware configurations. The most common symptom of this file’s failure to install is an inability to import .GSP and .CDB files in 20-20 Worksheet after the 2009 Commercial Software installation. Workaround: Run the manual setup for this file. Make sure 20-20 Worksheet is closed. The setup file (VFPODBC.msi) can be found on the 20-20 Commercial Software disc.
When a Worksheet is saved over & over, it grows in size. This can lead to unnecessarily large files. Workaround: Periodically use the “Purge” command within 20-20 Worksheet. This command can be found under the “File” menu.
When Exporting out of 20-20 Worksheet, the lack of a List value will no longer trigger an error message. Workaround: This was an intentional change to 20-20 Worksheet. Manually verify that all line items have List values. Verifying List value can be done quickly and easily by sorting by List.
